November Newsletter 2023

What a month of Thanksgiving! God led the Smith family, who visited us in February, to send shoes to Omega Church for distribution. When they announced their goal in March, it looked like a pipe dream, but here we are six months later, with 35 totes holding over 500 pairs of shoes. As they prepared to send the totes, their shipping agent, who immigrated from the Gambia, was so touched by what God had done. He told the Smiths that as a young boy, he had only one pair of shoes and had to tape and glue them whenever they fell apart because his family could not afford new ones.

This month was also the bi-annual Evangelical Church of The Gambia Women's Conference, which Michele was encouraged by. She played taxi and drove eight women to the rural area of Kartong where the event was, lugging along donations from the Omega congregation and others from our urban community. At the meeting, the ECG women served lunch, sang praises to God in local languages, and presented an encouraging devotional.

We also praise God for sending our favorite New Zealander, Kimberly Jayne, back to The Gambia for a 2-month mission trip. She volunteered a few hours to work with Michele in sorting out some felt boards that had been packed away at the guesthouse. We were thrilled to have her join in for her second Thanksgiving with us. We also celebrated with the ABWE staff, and some Norwegian missionaries, but sadly Kimberly had to leave before Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, we are grateful to Faith Community, Emmanual Baptist, and Grace Baptist of Hurlock churches for giving us early Christmas gifts this year. Faith Community Church went as far as to also raise funds for Michele's new laptop and seed money for a new guesthouse generator. We had planned to announce our need for a new larger generator in 2024, as the old one is almost 20 years old. Praise God for His provision and starting our funding. Look for an email in January for more information on the generator or contact us directly at our new email addresses patrick.reed@abwego.org, and/or michele.reed@abwego.org.

Email us today on how you can get more involved, and make sure to change our email address in your contacts.
